I hope it works for you! >>>>> Well, here is the latest (and a workaround) on not being able to print from Alpha 7. Here is the lowdown. I thought the LaserWriter print driver that came with OS 8 may be at fault so I downloaded the latest from Apple's site (8.5.1) and installed that. Same problem when I tried to print as reported before except that the print spooler didn't crash *BUT* the refreshing of the window behind the print dialog box was still hosed up. The printout that came from the printer was a blank page 1 (nothing on the page...not even the header) followed by good remaining pages (starting with page 2). By now I'm very frustrated so I try again with only the bare minimal OS 8 extensions turned on. Same results...no workee. The next thing I did seemed to have solved the problem but I'm not sure why. I must have been absently playing with the file I wanted to print out (the Aplha QuickStart Manual) and I just happened to hit the window "Grow" box in the upper right hand corner and of course, the window grew to the size of the entire screen. Then I tried to print AND IT WORKED!!! I hit the Grow box again to shrink the window back to its original size and tried printing again AND IT WORKED! Now, I need to mention that I had previously enlarged the window by dragging on the lower right corner but that did nothing to make it print correctly. It was only by clicking in the Grow box would it print (and refresh the window) correctly. I seemed to have to do this to all the files I wanted to print (not sure why this is) but at least now I have a reliable printing mechanism. I hope this helps somebody determine what the real problem is and will let me know so I don't lose sleep over it! Thanks! Alin Pilkington :) <<<<<
