From: david craig <dac@MRS.UMN.EDU> Subject: "File" menu tears off too inappropriately... Just a continual stream of whining, aren't I? Well, that's only because I use Alpha in just about EVERY aspect of my work, so am often interacting with it all day long. So I notice things. Anyway, here's another one: the tear-off menus are fabulously useful, but I have noticed that the File menu in particular will tear off (especially the first time I try and use it for something) when I am absolutely, positively sure that the mouse has never left the menu, on any side, no way, no how. I can then get rid of the torn-off menu, mouse to the item I had tried to get at before in a way as close to what I had done just moments before as is humanly possible, and the menu will do what it was supposed to do the first time. Not sure what's up here, but it's worth looking into. (Alpha 7.2, Mac OS 8.5.1, 6200CD.) David ps. As for the "preserving state" issue ... I've been working almost exclusively with html and javascript files this summer. Is there any chance this might be a mode-dependent issue? <http://cda.mrs.umn.edu/~dac/>
