Tcl is the open-source scripting language AlphaTcl is written in.

Tcl (Tool Command Language) is a cross-platform (Unix/Windows/Macintosh/and more...) interpreted scripting language and a very portable interpreter for that language. Tcl is embeddable and extensible, it was created by John Ousterhout in 1988 and is used by companies and organizations world-wide.
